What is a Board Certified Specialist?
BOARD CERTIFIED SPECIALISTS IN STATE CRIMINAL LAW
Both George W. Wiseman and Barrett O. Poppler have been designated as board certified specialists in state criminal law by the North Carolina State Bar. In order to achieve this distinction, both Mr. Wiseman and Mr. Poppler were required to demonstrate substantial involvement in this area of the law over a number of years in their everyday practice.
In addition to providing a list of their ten most recent criminal jury trials resolved by verdict, they also had to undergo a lengthy evaluation process involving peer review. As a final step in the process, both Mr. Wiseman and Mr. Poppler had to pass a rigorous, six-hour written examination.
George W. Wiseman and Barrett O. Poppler both successfully completed all of these requirements. As a result, the North Carolina State Bar has designated each of them as a board certified specialist in state criminal law.
